Nick is a corporate lawyer and specialises in advising both public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets. He acts for a wide range of corporate clients, from Yorkshire to the USA to North-East Asia. Nick is qualified to practice law in England and Wales, the State of California and Hong Kong.
He predominately works on transactions involving UK and international companies investing in the UK and UK companies investing overseas.
Nick trained in London and practiced in Tokyo for five years before returning to London. He later moved firm and practiced in Leeds, Hong Kong, Shanghai and then London. Nick joined Gateley LLP in 2013. Gateley Plc became the first law firm to be admitted to the London Stock Exchange AIM market in June 2015.
Nick spent ten years in North-East Asia and first went to Japan to study at university in 1990.
In Tokyo, he was a founding member of the Tokyo office of a large international law firm. Nick speaks Japanese and spent time on secondment at a global Japanese trading company.
He was a founding partner of the Hong Kong office of another large international law firm. Nick also managed the Shanghai office and worked with clients on investments both to and from China.
Nick is the current council member of the Law Society of England and Wales representing the Leeds constituency. He is a liveryman of the City of London Solicitors’ Company and a former member of the City of London Law Society committee.
