Security Procedures and Prohibited Items at Leeds Combined Courts

Instructions for court users regarding security procedures at the Leeds Combined Court Centre and a list of prohibited items (October 2017)

Since July 2017 all persons entering Leeds Combined Court Centre have been subject to a thorough search.   The time that it is taking for people to access the building has been increased due to the number of items being confiscated.

Therefore, I thought it would be useful for you to be aware of some of the items that may be confiscated and have provided a list for your information.

Please can I stress that this list is not exhaustive as Security Officers can use their discretion to take anything they feel could be used as a weapon or to disrupt court proceedings, it also changes slightly depending on the current threat level.

With a view to speeding up the process of entering the building, could I ask that you encourage your colleagues who attend at court to do so without any of the items on the list – see below.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours faithfully
